Havregrynskugler is a traditional Danish Christmas candy. Directly translated it means “Oatmeal balls”. As many other recipes, there are a lot of different versions of these as well. Some have coffee in them, others have flaked coconut. This recipe is very plain, but I’m pretty sure they would be even more delicious if spiced up with some almond extract, vanilla, rum or even orange juice!

OPSKRIFT/RECIPE:
– 6dl oatmeal/havregryn (gerne finvalsede)
– 4dl icing sugar/flormelis
– 80g soft butter or margarine/blødt smør eller margarine
– 7 tbsp cocoa/spsk kakao
– 1dl milk (or other fluids, like orange juice)/mælk (eller andet væske, som fx appelsinjuice)
– Something to roll them in (sugar, sprinkles, flaked coconut, nuts, oatmeal or whatever you’d like)/Noget at rulle dem i (Sukker, krymmel, kokosmel, nødder, havregryn eller lige hvad du har lyst til!)

1. Mix all the ingredients well in a stand mixer or by hand. The mixture is supposed to be very sticky!
2. Roll into little balls, about 1-1½ cm diameter. I used a teaspoon to measure.
3. Roll your Havregrynskugler in whatever you like!
