They bark. They bark at the wind. They wake up in the middle of the night if they hear a tiny noise – Just to bark at it. They love barking – BUT, they only bark to alert their humans, if they feel there’s a threat. So they’re great watch dogs! //
Pomeranians are very social, loyal and happy dogs. Prepare for them to follow you everywhere! If Dean is asleep and I have to go to the bathroom, he’ll wake up and follow me. //
4. They are very fragile dogs. Normal weight is at about 3kg for a Pomeranian. You have to watch out for them when they jump down from, for example, a couch (Dean won’t even jump down from a couch, unless there’s a blanket on the floor). This is also the reason that you have to watch out for them when kids want to play with them. //
5. Pomeranians hate eating alone. They will bring their food to where you are, and eat it in your company! Even if they have to run 20 times to get the food! //
6. They lick everything. Their tongue is everywhere. Your face, your fingers, your feet – Even the couch is sometimes being licked!
7. They change color! They might be all black by birth, but end up the opposite when grown (My boy is cream sable, but when I got him, I was told he would probably be all cream like his dad!).
8. Get used to people looking and pointing at your dog and saying “Awww!” everywhere you go – especially when your Pomeranian is still a puppy.
9. Because a Pomeranian is such a tiny dog, it also lives longer than the bigger dogs. A Pomeranian will live between 12-16 years, if they are properly taken care after.
10. A Pomeranian can be scared of the smallest things, but they don’t give up easily and they are very curious dogs! Dean isn’t very fond of wires and prefers to walk far away from them, but if his favorite ball is on the other side, he can stand there for 10 minutes to get courage and eventually he jumps over the wire to go get it!
